Frequently Asked Questions
What is Healthy Fuel, you ask?
Healthy Fuel is freshly made juice, it’s yoga in the park, it’s hearty protein bowls, it’s supporting community gardens, it’s composting 90% of your waste, it’s everything you need to get yourself to healthy and happy.
Juice or Smoothies?
Both! Juicing and blending are very beneficial, but in different ways. Juicing extracts water and nutrients from produce and discards the indigestible fiber. This process allows a rapid absorption of nutrients into the body as your digestive system doesn't have to work as hard to break down the food. Smoothies consist of the entire fruit or vegetable — skin and all — with all of the fiber from the vegetable. This helps create a slow, even release of nutrients into the bloodstream, avoiding blood sugar spikes. Smoothies tend to be more filling because of the fiber, and generally faster to make than juice, so they can be great to drink first thing in the morning as your breakfast, or for snacks throughout the day.
Is you product local and organic?
We strive to source all of our ingredients as locally and as sustainably grown as possible. Talking to local farmers and trips to the market are some of our favorite daily activities! Due to seasonality and demand, we still have to source some of our ingredients outside of a 100–mile radius of our store. We wake up every day trying to bring that circle closer so that our food is as fresh and nutrient–dense as possible.
Where do you deliver?
We deliver on bicycle, M-F (11-5), within a 1.5 mile radius of our store locations. Enter your address in at order.happyandhale.com to see if you're in the zone!
What does Happy + Hale mean?
Bobby McFerrin said it best: "Don't worry, be happy." It's our belief, that at the end of the day, everyone's just trying to put the pieces in place to create happiness for themselves and their loved ones. "Hale" is Old English, meaning "in robust good health." When we put them together it just rolled off the tongue. For us, when we're healthy, we're happy. "The greatest wealth is health." We couldn't agree with Virgil more.
